SSH Keys are a secure way to access your server without the need of a password. For some of our operating systems, such as Debian 11 & Ubuntu 22.x, it's required to use an SSH key to be able to access the server. Even though you're given the option to set a password, this password cannot be used to login to your VPS by default.

There are 2 ways to add an SSH Key to your VPS that can be applied during installation or reboot.

  1. The first method is during the ordering of your VPS. At the order form, there's a field to enter your public SSH key.
  2. The second method can be used after the initial ordering of your VPS. On every reboot, this SSH Key will be applied. On your Service overview, navigate to the VPS service you'd like to set your password for. On the overview page, scroll down under the action buttons and click the edit icon on the top right next to "Information".
A modal should pop up with some options, including the option to enter your SSH Key as seen below.

For most operating systems, this SSH Key will be applied on every reboot that is triggered from our control panel.
